Don't walk too fast

It seems strange writing this post, given that it's only a few weeks ago I was complaining about how slowly the process was going. Patchwork had a meeting with our SW this week and she mentioned that she would like to try and get us to panel by the middle of June! I have one week over the Easter break when we are in the country - during that week our SW wants to do an interview with both of us and 2 more interviews with just me. I must admit I've got slightly mixed feelings about this. On one hand it's great that she wants to move things on quickly, especially as we had so many delays to start with. On the other hand though, I am slightly worried that it may be taking things too quickly and that we will both need time to process all of the information we get from the training and preparation discussions.
I'm sure our SW won't move us on faster than we can deal with but it does seem a bit odd to be thinking about a possible panel date before we have even started the training course.

  1. Wow that's really exciting! It'd be good timing though, what with Summer hols coming up, to be placed then...but yes, that's still a long way off. Glad that contrary to popular experience, it's all flowing smoothly and quickly for you at the moment.

  2. It is nice to hear some positive things said about adoption. We had a tough time at cetain points, but I cannot speak highly enough of our social worker, the boys social worker, and his foster carer. Their efforts are commendable.

  3. You're right, your social worker won't move faster than you're ready for. In some ways it might be a good idea to run through this first bit, provoke lots of thoughts etc early in the process...it gives you plenty of time before panel to consider it all then, and the rest of your homestudy to question your social worker, do research and talk to each other.
I hope it goes smoothly for you.
Thanks for linking to the Weekly Adoption Shout Out x

  4. I'm sure they will only take us as fast as we want to go. You have to remember it is our journey... I'm sure we will be ready at the time and if not we will just say to them to slow down...
